The Hostel at Merryvale School is a home away from home for weekly and termly boarders residing in Gqeberha and the broader Eastern Cape. Homely accommodation is provided to learners who experience difficulty travelling to school daily.

Boarding is a happy and content way of life for many of our learners.

An experienced and dedicated team of boarding staff create a warm and caring atmosphere, offering round-the-clock support to ensure the learners feel at home, experience a sense of belonging, make friends and enjoy their school years. This enables our learners to flourish at a time in their life when they are making great leaps in their social and emotional development.

The Hostel Staff ensure the efficient daily running of the Hostel and supervision of the boarders. Rules and regulations are enforced, enabling successful management and providing a harmonious living environment.

The sunny dining room is serviced by a fully equipped kitchen that supplies three healthy meals daily. The delicious meals are prepared according to menus provided by a registered dietician.

The Hostel has separate wings for our girls and boys with spacious bedrooms, game rooms, extensive grounds, and facilities that provide the necessary leisure spaces. Boarders enjoy crafts, snooker, games and movies during the afternoons and over weekends. Boarders are often spoilt with regular outings to places of interest in Gqeberha.

Our nursing sister is available for medical emergencies, and all hostel staff have received the necessary first aid training.
