School Choir

Merryvale School prides itself on its amazing and talented choirs. We are blessed to have a junior and senior choir honouring our special needs learners’ angelic voices.

We believe every child has a talent that needs to be cultivated and groomed for it to bloom. Many of our learners find it difficult to express themselves in social settings, but through song and rhythm, they excel. This extra-mural activity not only uplifts one’s confidence but builds social bonds, instils routine and provides our learners with an opportunity to be noticed and acknowledged.

Our 2022 senior choir comprises 44 learners from the Middle, Senior and Occupational phases (aged 13 to 18 years) and is led by brilliant conductors and a Pianist.

The highlight of our year was the invitation we received to participate in the Despatch Eistedfodd Arts Festival on the 4th of May, 2022. Our learners, once again, did us proud as we were awarded a Gold Star and an A+, an outstanding achievement.

On the 19th of September, Merryvale School will hold its first Nelson Mandela Mini Eidstedfodd Special School Choir Competition. Our Choir will be competing amongst four other special schools in the metro. We hope to make this an annual event.

Our Merryvale School Choirs shall continue to soar high.
