Donations
Why does Merryvale need your donations?
As you can imagine, specialised education is a very costly education endeavour. We are constantly investigating fundraising ideas and activities to ensure that we offer quality education to all our learners with their unique needs. However, our costs are exacerbated by the following factors:
- We offer a school transportation system, where a fleet of buses daily transport learners to and from designated pick-up points. The fuel and upkeep of these buses come at an enormous price – we never compromise on the safety of our vehicles!
- The Merryvale hostel accommodates learners from all over the Eastern Cape, where our learners can enjoy the comfort and safety of a home away from home. Here the learners are given quality nourishment, proper supervision and loving care.
- Many of our learners come from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, complicating the school’s financial affairs – we often support families with food and clothing and assist some with exempting their school fees.
Considering the above, it is not surprising that we depend on the ongoing assistance of the public and local businesses to provide a meaningful edification programme for all our learners.
